FORM IS IMPRESSIVE

The Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he is extremely impressed by the class of Barcelona in recent weeks. The club have been an excellent run of form in the first half of the season, but they have been even better since the winter break. As a result, they proudly sit top of the la Liga table 18 points ahead of their arch rivals Real Madrid, while they are yet to lose a match in the domestic league. After starting the season on the bench, Fabregas has found lot of first-team opportunities in recent weeks and he has played a starring role for the team.

Fabregas has said that usually a winter break works against the team because it spoils the rhythm of the team, but he is extremely happy to know that

13TH WIN

Barcelona has secured its 13th victory in the ongoing La Liga by defeating Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona thrashed Bilbao by a huge margin of 5-1. This is the best ever start for Barcelona in La Liga. The previous best was in 1991-92 season when Barcelona had won 12 out of its first 14 matches.

Lionel Messi was again the main contributor in Barcelona’s victory. The Argentinean scored a brace which was his 11th brace in the season. He is now only two goals away from breaking Gerd Muller’s world record of scoring the maximum number of goals in a calendar year. Muller had scored 85 goals in 1972 and Messi has already scored 84 goals this year.

Messi has scored 28 goals in the ongoing season so far out of which 21 have been scored in La Liga. He is currently the leading goal scorer in the ongoing La Liga.

Apart from Messi, the other three goal scorers for Barcelona in the match against Bilbao were Adriano, Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas. Now, Barcelona is 11 points ahead of its arch rivals and defending champions Real Madrid.

In the post match press conference, Tito Vilanova said, “I am proud of my team. It was an amazing performance. We just demolished them. The attitude of the team was fantastic. Even after getting ahead by 5-1, the boys didn’t relax and were trying to score another goal till the very last minute which was really heartening to see.”

Fabregas also looked delighted after this victory. The Spaniard said, “It was a great day for us. Each and every player of the team gave his best and that’s why we won by such a big margin.”

Barcelona will play its next match against Benfica on Wednesday.

CESC HAPPY WITH SPAIN

The former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he is extremely happy with his status within the Spanish national team. The 25-year-old midfielder recently completed his move to Barcelona for £ 35 million. His first season at the Catalan club may not have been a huge success, but this season they have started in the most spectacular fashion under the new manager Tito Vilanova. This has consequently lead to an improved form for Cesc Fabregas, who has been a first-team regular for the Spanish national team for a consistent basis. This has led to the Spaniard said that he is extremely happy with his contributions and value within the national team.

The Spanish national team is undoubtedly the best in the world right now after having lifted the FIFA World Cup once and the European championship trophy two times. Yet, Cesc Fabregas has said that he is still hungry for more success and cannot wait to try had the opportunity to retain the World Cup in the 2014 edition. Cesc Fabregas recently played in his 73rd international match in the 4-0 win over Belarus. Spain have had a strong start to the World Cup qualifying campaign and are one of the favourites to win the World Cup.

“I’m actually a bit annoyed [with the number of international appearances], because if I hadn’t been injured it could have been more. But I’m happy. I feel valued within the team. We are an attacking team and we know that what we have to do is play well and look for space and depth. We need to carry on doing that. We’re going well, but we know we’re playing our main rivals in the group [France] next and that they have a great team,” said Cesc Fabregas ahead of the friendly matches next week.

VILANOVA PRAISES CESC

The manager of Barcelona, Tito Vilanova, has praised Cesc Fabregas for his performance in the match against Getafe. Barcelona won the match easily by 4-1. There have been reports (by Arsenal FC news amongst others) in the last few days that Fabregas is not happy to play as substitute more often than not. He wants first team chances which he is not getting.

So, he might think about leaving the club. But, Vilanova included Fabregas in the first XI for the match against Getafe and the Spaniard proved his coach right by performing superbly throughout the match. The Argentinean superstar, Lionel Messi, didn’t start the match for Barcelona and he came to play as substitute the second half.

The Getafe defenders played well in the first half and didn’t let the Barcelona players create many opportunities. In the 32nd minute of the match, Barcelona took a lead of 1-0 with the goal of Adriano. The goal was beautifully set up by Fabregas who beat a couple of Getafe defenders with his amazing skills and gave Adriano a cross. The Brazilian international was quick to pounce on the opportunity. He smashed the ball into the right hand corner of the net. There was no more goal scored in the first half and at the half time break, the scorecard was saying 1-0 in the favour of Barcelona.

Lionel Messi came on to the park in the 60th minute of the match and the Getafe team came under pressure after Messi’s arrival on the field. Barcelona earned a penalty in the 74th minute and Messi converted it into goal with ease. He made the score 3-0 by scoring his second goal in the match in the 78th minute. That goal was set up by Martin Montoya.

Pablo Sarabia reduced the lead by scoring a goal in the 80th minute, but, that was not enough to stop Barcelona from winning the match. David Villa put the final nail in the coffin by finding the net in the 90th minute with a left footed shot. Barcelona will play its next match on 23rd of September against Granada.
