VILANOVA PRAISES CESC

The manager of Barcelona, Tito Vilanova, has praised Cesc Fabregas for his performance in the match against Getafe. Barcelona won the match easily by 4-1. There have been reports (by Arsenal FC news amongst others) in the last few days that Fabregas is not happy to play as substitute more often than not. He wants first team chances which he is not getting.

So, he might think about leaving the club. But, Vilanova included Fabregas in the first XI for the match against Getafe and the Spaniard proved his coach right by performing superbly throughout the match. The Argentinean superstar, Lionel Messi, didn’t start the match for Barcelona and he came to play as substitute the second half.

The Getafe defenders played well in the first half and didn’t let the Barcelona players create many opportunities. In the 32nd minute of the match, Barcelona took a lead of 1-0 with the goal of Adriano. The goal was beautifully set up by Fabregas who beat a couple of Getafe defenders with his amazing skills and gave Adriano a cross. The Brazilian international was quick to pounce on the opportunity. He smashed the ball into the right hand corner of the net. There was no more goal scored in the first half and at the half time break, the scorecard was saying 1-0 in the favour of Barcelona.

Lionel Messi came on to the park in the 60th minute of the match and the Getafe team came under pressure after Messi’s arrival on the field. Barcelona earned a penalty in the 74th minute and Messi converted it into goal with ease. He made the score 3-0 by scoring his second goal in the match in the 78th minute. That goal was set up by Martin Montoya.

Pablo Sarabia reduced the lead by scoring a goal in the 80th minute, but, that was not enough to stop Barcelona from winning the match. David Villa put the final nail in the coffin by finding the net in the 90th minute with a left footed shot. Barcelona will play its next match on 23rd of September against Granada.

FABREGAS AIMS TO BE FIT

Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he plans to be 100% fit by the time the Euro 2012 kicks off in Poland and Ukraine the summer. Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas suffered an injury in recent weeks, which was likely to rule him out of the Euro 2012. However, he has made a miraculous recovery in such a way that he has now been included in the squad for the European Championships. Spain will be going into the competition looking to defend the title they won in 2008. Fabregas, who moved from Arsenal in £ 35 million deal in the summer, has been short of form in recent weeks.

He suffered a thigh injury in the Copa del Rey match against Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona won the match 3-0, in what proved was the last match for outgoing manager Guardiola. The thigh injury meant that his participation at the Euro 2012 has been under major doubt in the last few days. However, Spanish national team manager Vicente del Bosque has not omitted him from the team especially considering that fellow teammate Xavi has been struggling from a knee problem throughout the season. It is expected that Fabregas and Iniesta will be used a lot by del Bosque.

“Thank u all for caring abt (sic) my injury. Im (sic) fine and with no pain. Soon will be 100 [percent] ready to start preparing the euros with the national team,” said Fabregas on his Twitter account. Spain have been grouped alongside 2006 World Champions Italy, while they also have Croatia and Republic of Ireland to negotiate. Due to the fact that they will be playing Italy in the first game of the group stages, they will be hoping to have Fabregas to be fully fit by the time the match kicks off.
